Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Is Here, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the forthcoming animated feature.

The sequel to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will transport Mario to the far corners of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Classic Games

Much like the games from the Wii period that act as its source material, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. Throughout his extensive trek, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is scheduled to arrive near the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 is shaping up to be a major period for Mario and his allies.

The company has a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
